1. Updates on Silicon Valley comes to the UK 2011 (http://www.svc2uk.com/)
The project is now really taking off with CUTEC on board! It is with great pleasure we announce the participation of our present and former CUTEC members within the Executive and Operating Committee:

2. Interested in developing business in the Baltic States?
A free series of seminars has been designed to introduce you to the opportunities and financial support available to British companies interested in developing their business in Lithuania, located at a strategic location in Eastern Europe. This will be held in three locations across the UK (Birmingham – 27th September, Coventry - 28th September, Cambridge - 29th September).
The seminars are particularly relevant to companies considering investing in R&D or developing a cost-effective business abroad. They will aim to present Lithuania, its talent pool, its competitive advantages and the financial support programs available.
While sharing their experience, a range of high-quality speakers will give overviews of particular sectors. For more information and registration, please read more on:

CfEL Programmes and Events:
1- Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship Residential Session 5-9 September 2011: This introduction to the inaugural programme is an intensive week long, residential session in Cambridge which lays the foundations for the entrepreneurial journey of participating delegates through the year ahead. 2- Enterprisers in Russia: programme held from 12-15th September in Moscow 2011: The collaboration with InCube (Business Incubator at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration) and Greenfield Project (a support network for entrepreneurs in Russia started by CfEL alumnus, Peter Tatischev) means the highly successful, intensive 4-day residential Enterprisers programme will be offered to Russian undergraduates, PhD students and young professionals looking to develop start-ups.
3- Registration now open for Enterprise Tuesday 2011/12: Enterprise Tuesday will start on 1st November with Prof Andy Hopper, Chairman of RealVNC and Ubisense, and Richard Green, CEO of Ubisense, already confirmed to talk on, ‘Mindsets and Motivations’. i-Teams is for post-graduate students who want to build go-to-market strategies for ground-breaking university technologies and inventions. We bring together leading university researchers with multi-disciplinary teams of the brightest students and experienced business mentors. i-Teams assess the commercial viability of the researcher's invention, determine future directions, identify product markets and has the opportunity to present its findings to the annual CUTEC Technology Ventures Conference.
The next term’s projects are:
1- Finding real-world applications for a synthetic reversible molecular lego system - Dr. Bazbek Davletov, Dr. Enrico Ferrari & Dr. Chunjing Gu, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology
2- Enhancing Reality - finding commercial applications for Spectral Edge, a new image fusion technology - Professor Graham Finlayson, Dr. David Connah, School of Computing Sciences, UEA
3- MoreEnCAPs - investigating the market demand for self-assembling "smart" materials - Dr. Roger Coulston (an i-Teams alumnus) & Jing Zhang (an i-Teams alumnus), Chemistry.

8. Cambridge Angels Mentoring Day, 19th October 2011
The Cambridge Angels are, once again, casting a wide net for good start-up companies to attend its annual Mentoring Day on the 19th October 2011. Looking for angel investment? Here is an opportunity to benefit from a mentoring session with one or more of the Cambridge Angels. The 'winners' will be offered a Cambridge Angels formal pre-dinner pitch.

9. Mozilla’s Second Annual Innovation Festival – London, November 4-6, 2011
Three days of passionate people using the web to bend, hack and reinvent media! Here is a quick heads-up about the upcoming Mozilla’s Festival, which would be a fun weekend where Media, Freedom and the Web will capture the creativity that comes from the freedom to propose radical ideas, share them with capable people, and access the resources required to pull them off.
The event which will be taking place in early November in London also needs help in spreading the word to your circles for Volunteers. For more information:

10. CUTEC 2012 Inaugural Event
The CUTEC 2o12 Inaugural Event will mark the start of the new CUTEC year on the 17th October, in the Judge Business School’s theatre, from 7.00pm. It will present CUTEC’s plan for the academic calendar and will aim to recruit new members.
An introduction by our organisation will be followed by an hour long expert-led panel discussion on “Business Opportunities in Cambridge – Entrepreneurship in a volatile climate” and the evening will finish with networking drinks.
Speakers such as Dr Shai Vyakarnam and Hermann Hauser will intend to inspire attendee in introducing the next Technology Venture Conference’s theme. They will give notably insight into the challenges of driving innovation in the current climate, particularly within high-tech clusters like Cambridge.
