  • 2. Seeking for topics and ideas for the Technology Venture Conference 2012

While preparing an exciting agenda for the year ahead and getting familiar with the various responsibilities implied by their roles, the Executive Committee is currently looking for some inspirational thoughts which will build the topic of its TVC 2012.

Hence, should you have any ideas please do not hesitate to share them by sending an email to: organisations@cutec.org

Thus far, the following subjects have been considered:

    1. Future Strategies for Research & Development – Which model for Innovation? Investment vs. spending: how will corporations finance this ever rising unit? How to fit R&D into a profitable business strategy? Privatised research vs. Government research vs. charity? Economically decreasing research costs? New strategies for research – outsourcing, open-innovation, academia-industry links?

    2. The rise and fall of in silico business – apps, smartphones, tabs, internet based companies, software – enablement of every day life, ease of living due to internet.

    3. Re-modelling, re-branding and branching out – Pharma 3.0 business model, Microsoft and Amazon vs. Apple

    4. The future of Technology - solving tomorrow's problems: the drive for new technologies

    5. Opportunities in the volatile world: if lower investment funds are available which alternatives can be found to sustain growth via innovation? Seeking for solutions to secure the R&D within unstable economic climate - From start-ups to large corporations, how to overcome obstacles and challenges raise by financial turmoil?

We look forward to receiving your creative thoughts and input for our next TVC!

  • 3. The Silicon Valley comes to the UK 2011 (SVC2UK - http://www.svc2uk.com/)

The annual programme welcomes pioneers of the most disruptive consumer internet and green technologies to the UK. The entrepreneurs will meet their UK and European counterparts to look at collaborating on business ventures.

They will lead classes at the University, examining cutting-edge technologies and business models, and they will meet with policymakers to look at how to expand the UK's innovation capacity. The initiative is now being leveraged by Prime Minister David Cameron to generate economic growth based on innovation.

CUTEC again sits on the Executive Committee for both SVC2UK and SVC2C to help co-ordinate and organise a series of events in Cambridge, with the endorsement of Daivd Cameron and his cabinet. The inspiring week of panel discussions, seminars and demonstrations is organised by Co-Chairs Sherry Coutu and Reid Hoffman.
