3. Silicon Valley comes to Cambridge (November 18-20)
Silicon Valley comes to Cambridge (SVC2C), co-hosted by NESTA and Cambridge University, welcomes pioneers of the most disruptive consumer internet and green technologies on November 18-20 to Cambridge.
Do not miss the opportunity to be part of this conference when Silicon Valley entrepreneurs will meet their UK and European counterparts. Over the last years, SVC2C has grown into an eagerly anticipated event, with thousands of students and entrepreneurs benefiting from the collective expertise of Silicon Valley and Silicon Fen.
The three-day-long conference will inspire you to start or join an entrepreneurial business and foster relationships between the leading entrepreneurs, angels and investors and scientists from both world centres of ideas. The Grand Launch is particularly special since it marks the start of the second decade of the Entrepreneurs' Challenge. The event is free to attend and there will be food, drink and live music as well as the chance to meet potential team-mates for this year's Entrepreneurs' Challenge. To kick start a new year of creativity and entrepreneurship, we are delighted to announce the speakers for this year's Grand Launch:
Dr Hermann Hauser
Serial Entrepreneur and Co-Founder, Amadeus Capital Partners
Dr Hauser is the most prominent figures of entrepreneurship in the UK and Europe. He received his PhD degree in Physics from the Cavendish Laboratory at King's College, Cambridge. He has helped four of the companies that he has worked with become billion dollar companies. In his long and successful history as an entrepreneur and venture capitalist, he has founded or co-founded companies in a wide range of technology sectors. These include Acorn Computers, Active Book Company, Virata, Net Products, NetChannel, and Cambridge Network Limited.
Billy Boyle
Co-founder of Owlstone Inc.
Billy is the co-founder of Owlstone, one of Cambridge's most successful spin-outs with perhaps the most legendary story of starting up a company. Owlstone was born when Billy and the other two co-founders, Andrew and David, were researching in the Department of Engineering of Cambridge University. They entered the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs £50K prize competition in 2004 and received the Runner up prize, marking the beginning of an adventure that has been ongoing for the past six years, winning
multiple investments and grants of millions.

5. Enterprise Tuesday
Enterprise Tuesday is a series of free evening lectures and networking sessions managed and delivered by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning since 1999. The programme aims to introduce participants to the world of business, as well as to encourage and inspire individuals to pursue their entrepreneurial ambition. It is the most popular non-assessed programme within the University.
Enterprise Tuesday is open to all University of Cambridge staff and students, members of other universities and the local business community. The series is particularly relevant for postgraduate students considering future career paths, those exploring entrepreneurial opportunities and looking to build high quality networks with experts and practitioners.
Enterprise Tuesday runs for six weeks during the Michaelmas Term starting 19th October and then for six weeks during the Lent Term starting 18th January.
