  • 1. National Entrepreneurship Week 2010 was FABULOUS

CONGRATULATIONS to all our "Entrepreneurship Supporters" who created wonderful activities to Celebrate National Entrepreneurship Week 2010. For many it was in spite of any help from 'Mother Nature' !

Now we need to hear from you. Just send a short write-up, pictures as JPGs, press coverage, and even links to videos. We will get them posted on the national site and use many of them in our next newsletter. Making entrepreneurship visible to everyone is our major goal.

Let's keep sharing support for entrepreneurship in every state...all YEAR-ROUND! Just send what is happening locally to your state leadership team leader and they will help us post information for every state. (see list at http://www.nationaleweek.org/leaders/state-leaders-team)

  • 2. LET ALL OF OUR VOICES BE HEARD AT THE WHITE HOUSE

Wednesday, Mar 3, , via it's website, the White House posed the question, "What does a 21st century education mean to you?"

THE CONSORTIUM HAS ANSWERED: We have been a long-time advocate of the work of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21). They include entrepreneurship as a "21st Century Theme" that should be woven into all core academic skills. Specifically they advocate " Financial, Economic, Business and Entrepreneurial Literacy

    • Knowing how to make appropriate personal economic choices
    • Understanding the role of the economy in society
    • Using entrepreneurial skills to enhance workplace productivity and career options

P21 HAS ANSWERED: The Partnership for 21st Century Skills has worked to answer this question by building strategic partnerships between business, education and local, state and federal government stakeholders. We have found that, to ensure 21st century readiness for every student, we must fuse the three Rs and four Cs (critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity and innovation). http://www.21stcenturyskills.org

It is clear that our country will continue to compete in a global economy that demands innovation - our education system must keep up. To that end, P21 and its members - which represent every sector of society - provide tools and resources to help stakeholders fuse the three Rs and four Cs. Leading districts and schools are already doing this. Local, state and federal governments must craft policies that support this change for every school. That is why it is so important now, as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act becomes reauthorized, for our federal policymakers to support and incorporate the fusing of the three Rs and the four 4Cs throughout that Act to ensure every child owns the outcomes that will enable them to be college and career ready upon graduation.

    MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD Please!

NOW IS THE TIME to send us your Proposal to be a conference speaker...to share the great programs that others come to the FORUM to learn about (and copy). April 15 is the deadline for proposals so we can get the program organized in time to share it nationwide before summer vacations.
