Yes, it has been 28 years of professional development conferences that we have offered to educators concerned about how to prepare our Youth to consider a career as an entrepreneur. We expect that this will be the best one yet and more important than ever with the state of our economy!
Reminders: Go to http://www.entre-ed.org/_network/forum.htm ...
** SCHOLARSHIPS for educators are available that cover your conference registration and hotel costs. Deadline for applications is September 24.
** STUDENTS are invited to provide an exhibit and sell their products at the Marketplace for Young Entrepreneurs on Sunday, November 14.
** CONSORTIUM MEMBERS are invited to a special "Power Mixer" as our annual meeting on Friday, November 12 at 1 PM.
** PRE-CONFERENCE OPPORTUNITIES - check out the planned activities for Saturday, Nov 13 before the conference starts at 4 PM. Register at the hotel on Friday at the same great $99 per night rate.
Note that we are open to putting additional presenters on a waiting list to fill in where any of our 56 Concurrent Sessions or 26 Roundtable presenters find they cannot attend. Entrepreneurship educators at all levels of the lifelong learning process are welcome. 3. Simulation Shared Free to Consortium Network ...
My name is Derek Luebbe and I am a high school principal from Hendersonville, NC. Along with two other teachers, I am the co-creator of a new, entrepreneurial / economic simulation called simCEO. It is located at www.simceo.org . I am hoping to share this simulation for free with as many teachers as possible. It's pretty unique - authentic, flexible, and fun - as I think you'll see from the short description below.
Some of you may have read the recent blog on Edutopia in which Suzie Boss called simCEO "an open platform for teacher innovation." It is a fully operational resource, meant to be understood through a quick visit to the site and ready to implement in the classroom or with an extra-curricular group outside the classroom.
SimCEO is the only dynamic simulation played entirely online in which a group of students:
1. Each CREATE individual companies
2. RESEARCH each others' companies online
3. TRADE: Manage a portfolio by buying and selling shares in each others' companies which immediately influences share prices.
Participants "win" in one of two ways:
1. To be a successful entrepreneur by creating a business that ends with the highest share price
2. To be a savvy investor by ending with the largest portfolio value
3. I am happy to share this simulation - free of charge, via a promotional code - with you or other innovators you know of who are looking to try/review a new resource. The free promotional code is SIMCEOAUG and it is good for twenty (20) free simCredits (allowing 20 student users) as long as you register and redeem the promotional code by Aug. 31, 2010. (The simulation does not have to be played by Aug. 31 - only the redemption of the promotional code.)

6. Have you signed on for National Entrepreneurs' Day???
The Consortium is joining with others to help get a National Entrepreneurs' Day celebrated this fall on November 19. You can go to http://www.entre-week.org/ and see how to sign on to make your support as a friend of the Consortium known.
Help us as we work to get more celebrations of entrepreneurs and their contributions to America’s economy. Share with your friends on Face Book and Twitter and get them to sign on also. The Consortium can have influence in getting the President to declare National Entrepreneurs' Day. We welcome a special day to honor a local entrepreneur in each of your communities and organizations. They need all the recognition we can give them for their contribution to American JOBS.
***** Interesting Fact from SBA Office of Advocacy:
In 2008, there were 29.6 million businesses in the United States, and of these 21.7 million had no employees (2007 the latest available data).
Just think what ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION can contribute to our economy!
