African Incubator Network (AIN)
AIN is founded on the belief that we all have something to contribute and that we need to share our learning, support each other and build the African continent through our own endeavours. Our development funding is provided by infoDEV and SEDA.

infoDev provides support to business incubator projects in several African countries, with sub-regions in South, East and West Africa, and works in close partnership with the growing African Incubator Network to which it also provides financial support. Business incubators are not yet widespread in Africa, but with a growing population of innovators and entrepreneurs, business incubation is seen as an important facilitator of small enterprise development.

AIN is currently looking into the opportunity to host an incubator manager training workshop in two modules on Thursday, 31 May 2012 and Friday, 1 June 2012. The workshops will be hosted in Nairobi, Kenya and will follow directly after the Open Innovation Africa Summit 2012. All interested parties are requested to contact Chris Vermeulen directly at chris@bwb.org.za
The workshops will present the latest, cutting edge material on incubation management that has been developed by infoDev, a division of the World Bank.
The Namibia Business Innovation Centre (NBIC) and the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) are organizing the first IASP African Division Workshop in Windhoek, Namibia, on 12th-13th March and will focus on “Operating Science Parks and Business Incubators in Africa: next steps”.
It follows on from a survey recently conducted by IASP on Science and Technology Parks in the region, the results of which will be presented during the workshop itself. This will constitute the basis for reasoning about strategies for running and implementing STPs and how to attract tenants, among other topics within the African context. We will discuss planning, implementation, operations, tenants services, entrepreneurship programmes and incubation and keep it very interactive to get the participants involved.
For further information, please see the attached programme. In order to register, visit http://nbic.polytechnic.edu.na/iasp-africa-workshop/.
